PSX Stockbrokers Association (PSA) has welcomed the appointment of Aaamir Khan as the new chairman of Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP).

The PSA expressed hopes that Aamir Khan, with his expertise and experience of the corporate world and for his passion of putting the capital market on path of recovery, will pay immediate attention to the plight of the stock market and shall take emergent measures in relaxing stringent regulatory requirements.

"We look forward to the initiation of structural reform process aimed at relaxation/reduction in regulations for creation of ease in doing business for stock market and the brokerage industry", a statement issued by PSA here on Friday said. It is also expected that under the leadership of the chairman, the SECP shall endeavour to provide the much-needed liquidity in the market, it added.

"We hope that the Commission under Aamir Khan's leadership will adopt a balanced and a consultative approach in its role as an Apex Regulator", PSA said and assured the new Chairman that they would continue to assist the Commission in all matters including the reform process. "We look forward to having a great working relationship with Aamir Khan, SECP chairman and would like to take this opportunity to invite him to visit PSX - Karachi and to have an interactive session with the PSA members", the statement said.

The PSA also appreciated the outgoing Chairman SECP, Farrukh H Sabzwari for the services rendered by him for the capital market and brokerage industry.
